Any fly rod builders have a chance to check out the new single foot Fuji TATSG solid titanium alloy high frame, SiC ring concept spinning guide?
It has a single HIGH post. I'm wondering how it might work on, say a 9 or 10 wt saltwater rod as a stripper or a small group of #16,#12, #10 for increased line shooting ability. For the independently wealthy amongst us an entire set for shooting fly line to the horizon and beyond. The solid titanium alloy frame might be lighter, yet the height looks rather extreme. I don't know. Too much wind resistance? Any cutting edge pioneers out there who have looked into this? Price ranges from $7.30-$24.21 PER guide. OUCH! Ceramic rings are not going to increase your casting distance as much you might think. Nor will high frame guides make good condidates for running guides.
If you wish to use a high framed spinning type guide, reserve that for the stipper and next one or two and then quickly drop to very low frame, blank hugging guides for the remainder of the set. .......... Re: new Fuji TATSG spinning guide appropriate for fly rod?

I used a #12 as a stripper for an 0 weight, but this is not in the same league as your application. I am not sure why they would be any less functional than a single foot spinning guide. Be forewarned that the foot on the guide is very short. I also added a Forhan locking wrap. As Tom says, you might want to switch to a lower frame Fuji running guide. But as #16 and #12 strippers, they would look pretty neat. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
