alright guys, i really could use a hand in building my 2nd rod. i used a lot of ur guys' advise in the first one and it turned out great! so im looking to build a g. loomis ultralight rod. here's the stats:
6'6", fast action, 2-6 pounds, 1/32-3/16 oz, spinning rod, 1 piece GL3, tip size is 4.

so im looking for help on guide sizing. i don't have a good rod builder supply shop near me that i know about and i need to mail order everything. i believe i will need around 7 guides but im not sure at all about the sizes, if i should go with a high rise or not, etc. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

also if there any sites that i can find that can get this info from would be great. i've read that a lot of manufacturers will give you this kind of info, and even the spacing. thanks guys, i appreciate it in advance

I would go no larger than a 20 for the first guide, and might be pushing it for an UL. Then maybe a 12 and then 6's all the rest of the way. Use a static test to figure out where to put them. Order a couple more 6's than you think you need.

If you have any left over, gimme a yell and I'll buy them off you if you don't think you'll build anymore rods.

not build another rod???? riiiiiight ;-) it's a disease, a DISEASE i tell ya!

6 tip top

Concept system, Fuji Concept SiC or TiSiC (depending on available $$$)

George is close to what I'd use, depends on the actual blank/reel and where the true intercept is for a new concept layout. I'd personally use the cheaper Fuji Alconites, though admitedly the others are lighter.

so im looking at the blank stats and it says the tip is a size 4. so that has nothing to do with the tip top size? and also am i correct that you make the guide directly in front of the tip top the same size as the tip top? just for future reference

The tip top size is not the ring size. It has to do with the blank diameter. If you had a 6 mm. running guide as your last guide you might want a size 4 tip top with a 6 mm. ring. With that little rod I would go 16, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6s to the top. All single foot. I like the cone/concept theory for spinning rods.

alright great, thanks for the help! now im looking at getting the sic guides from fuji, but they have a lot of different kinds. this is going to be primarily a trout rod. i plan on casting a lot of different light lures and plastics with it so i don't know what kind of sic guides i should get to best fit my needs. what will the different types do in terms of performance? i.e. the high frame guides versus the normal single foot guides?
