O.K. guides are taped on and ready for stress and casting test. however, loomis recommends 9 guides. the guy i bought my stuff from said 8 guides should do it. i am building an imx,7-ft, casting rod. i have a #12, #10, and six #8's. i am going to trust the results of the test unless i hear different from this board. it does, however, look like it could use one or more guides on it. thanks chuck Re: guides

The height of the guides will have much to do with how many you need. 8 is likely enough for good stress distribution but if you are using very low frames (and that would be recommended if you are building a conventional guides-on-top casting rod) then you may find the need to use 1 or 2 more. Trust your testing results. ............... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
