I'm in the process of building a new shop and the electrican has suggested Xeon lights.
Does anyone have any experience with Xeon lights? I was told they put off a real white light with no or little heat. These lights would be mounted just above my rod lathe. Larry Tysinger Re: Xeon Lights

If they are anything like the bulbs used on the Daylight lamps, they are great to work with. My old lamp finally died and replaced it with a Daylight lamp and it makes a world of difference on how well you can see things with this lamp. Re: Xeon Lights

Can you say $$$$$$. I know "true" Xeon lighting requires more power so gotta be something special with the fixtures. I haven't heard of Xeon for home lighting, just autos.
As mentioned earlier, go with flourescent fixtures and get the daylight bulbs in them. Will do an excellent job. I have two four foot strips on portable and fully position adjustable stands (what they use in autobody shops). I can roll them around, adjust height, angle everthing. I usually put one at each end of the table, then have another two strips permanently mounted above the bench. I hate shadows when wrapping. I used to have to walk outside in sunlight to assess my wraps. Now, it's all good and not much $$ invested. GO to an electrical supply store (usually cheaper than lowe's and major chains). I got the 4ft strip fixtures for about $10 and the bulbs for less than $3 each. Another option, but pricey is metal hallide lighting (go to an aquarium shop), but again, special fixtures, generate alot of heat and expensive. Re: Xeon Lights
