I have a buddy of mine who wants a 7' spinning rod for striper fishing In New York/New Jersey. I have no idea what blank, or guides to use. Any help would be appreciated. Most of his fishing is done with Live Bait and Lures up to 1oz.
Thanks, Gregg Re: Striper Rod Help

Live baiting and plugging are probably best done with two very different type rods. For live baiting, I really like and highly recommend either the Seeker CLB702 or 704. For plugging, you've got a wide range of options. Any of the heavier largemouth bass type blanks; the MB844's, etc., would be good choices. Light 7' saltwater type plugging blanks would do as well.

Tom,
Thanks for the reply. What guides do i use. I am assuming that Standard single foot spinning guides will not be the answer, Or maybe they are. He is pretty rough on equipment and i want to make sure i give hime a top quality rod. Gregg Re: Striper Rod Help

I use the standard casting type NSG in most cases. I assume you're talking a conventional baitcasting style reel.
You could get away with single foot fly type guides on the upper tip area if you use a Forhan wrap. They're tough and sit low so they're not apt to be bent or twisted. ............ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
