I just posted a picture of a Pac Bay Tradition 7'9" 3 weight I'm building. This is my second try at static placement, gave up on the first one. My question is, based on the photo, are those guides too far apart? All the others look fine to me. Most of the books call for 8 guides on a 7'6" and 9 guides on an 8', so this rod could use either. I currently have 8 on it.

It doesen't look bad to me. I have an 8'6" 5 wt. that has 10 guides on it. If the rod calls for an extra guide, use it. Charts are more like guidelines than actual rules.

I would think a more of a bend, looks light?? You can go as much as 11 guides. Looks like single foot wire that are on there. First from tip I go 4" to start.

It looks respectable to me. When we say the line should follow the curve of the blank, it should be obvious that it will do so only in many straight staccato like segments. Each should resemble the other with no segment "flatter" or much farther from the blank than the one before it. What you have in the photo looks good.
