That really depends on many things. You don't want the line to touch the foregrip when the line is fully loaded, so that may require a higher framed or larger guide, or positioning it closer to the reel. But you don't want it so close that the line must "turn a corner" to get into the guide or that the line overshoots the guide on the cast. Every rod will be somewhat different. I don't know enough about your rod to really give any good starting points, but you can try putting it at about 20 inches forward of the reel face for most freshwater type casting rods and perhaps 24 inches or so for heavier or saltwater rods. Neither of these is absolute - you need to tape the guide on and go out and test cast and test load the rod to get the exact placement. .............................. Re: guide
