Has anybody used these blanks for bass crankbait, they are about the right price, right weight, and was wondering if the parabolic action was similiar to the glass rods that they produce. I like the new green color in their inshore series vs. the new black glass rods. I know that they have an SCIII crankbait blank, but I've used glass for about 4 years now and if the action is right you can't beat the price for those SCII inshore blanks. Bryan,
I have been using a St. Croix GI176LM for crankbaits and rattle trap's for black and large whitebass as well as some rockfish. It does an excellent job. Caught some rockfish up to 10#'s on it this fall. It has a moderate to slow action and you can throw a 3/8 oz bait a long way. Also the moderate action does not allow the fish any leverage to throw your bait. I built mine as a spinning rod and use 10# Fireline on it and just love it. I am now building a friend one on this blank but his will be a casting rod. He borrowed mine one day and put one of his casting reels on it and was amazed at how well it cast his 1/4oz crankbaits. Hope this helps you out. Re: SCII inshore for bass crankbait

Tom,
Thanks for that info. Yes, some of those SCII inshore blanks cross over to do some good bass fishing techniques. Many also prefer the green color of these blanks. The new SCIV model 4S76MLF is one you might also want to keep in mind for light live bait rig, or artificials. It's a much lighter blank with exceptional sensitivy as are the other SCIV in gloss cobalt blue pearl finish. These 2005 blanks will be an outstanding series and available to order now.
