My schedule will only allow me to spend one day at the rod show. I am wondering which is the better day to attend. Would you have any idea of the expected attendence for either day? I hate to miss any of the first day bargains, but should it be too crowded to have a nice look, I might defer to Sunday. Thanks. Re: Question on the BIG show

Date: December 21, 2004 07:57PM Saturday was crowded last year. I can only guess that the better bargains might be snapped up by Sunday but it is a lot easier to move around and talk to people on Sunday. You might actually get to see more and learn more on Sunday due to the smaller numbers of builders. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/21/2004 09:09PM by Tom Kirkman. Re: Question on the BIG show

It's a toss up! Sunday could also have good deals with vendors wanting to get rid of stuff rather than pack it up and take home with them. You might want to consider which seminars/Demo's that you want to see. Also thr builder get together on Saturday nighy

My perspective having been a participant at several shows. Saturday is normally a crush of people and hectic - unless a vendor hasn't trucked in enough "stuff" there will be plenty on Sunday. Sunday is normally a more relaxed atmosphere for everyone attendees and sellers as well. Routinely by 2PM on Sunday there are few people remaining. Saturday for sellers can be tough. You don't want to "snub" anyone nor can you really spend a lot of time with any one individual -- it's a tough call knowing when to try to move to the next person waiting to speak with you - and you never want to miss the person at / near the back while you're speaking with someone. Luckly for this show I'll have some help. Doing this with ONE person is really tough. Re: Question on the BIG show

Last year, there were several hundred rod builders in attendance. Probably 2/3rds of them were there on Saturday. Sunday was much calmer - I even had time to eat lunch.
The vendors I've spoken with are bringing a huge amount and assortment of goods so I wouldn't be to worried about any of them selling out or all the good deals being gone by Sunday. With 4,000 blanks and corresponding amounts of guides, grips, tools, cork, etc., there should be plenty to go around. However, I really can't pin a number on how many builders will attend this year. I feel confident we'll have roughly twice as many as last year, but it could be even more than that. It's a tough call as to which day would be better, but if you don't mind a more crowded venue, then Saturday would put you in the midst of the action for sure. You might also consider which seminars are most important to you (if any are) and schedule your trip for the day those particular ones are being held. ........... Re: Question on the BIG show

By all means come to the show on Saturday and stand in line with the rest of us to buy a ticket. Be sure and hold on to the ticket stub for Sunday. Now the best solution of all - change your schedule!!
