Does anyone know where I might find some super cheap fly rod blanks that I can use to practice on before I try to build my fancy rod.
If they turn out fishable I'll probably give them to a local fishing club. I'm thinking somewhere around 5-10 USD, if such a thing can be found. Mark Re: cheapo blanks

We have several Forecast fly blanks in that price range. We can also provide a complete kit with those blanks at very attractive prices. Next week is inventory time, so we need to move some of this type merchadise out the door. You can contact us at 931-684-6164, for our "Inventory Reduction Specials".

Rodblanks.com has inexpensive blanks (I think they are Forecast). The Tiger Eye blanks (Dan Craft, Neal's at left) start at about $20 and make a nice rod, so why sell yourself short? Buy one and you may keep it forever. Re: cheapo blanks

Hey Jeff,
I tried Rodblanks.com and found a web hosting page, do they have a new website? Bob, didn't see any Forecast blanks on your site, am I missing them? Do they make any ultra light fly blanks (1 or 2 weight)? If you wouldn't mind terribly, could you send me a list of their blanks that you've got? My email address is shamburg@hotmail.com Re: cheapo blanks

Mark,
You need to call or e-mail vendors to see what they have! Very few sites are remotely up do date and some haven't been updated in many moons!!!! Mike Re: cheapo blanks

Mark,
Rod-Blanks.com is a sponsor to the left. I'd also call Bob at Custom Tackle, sounds like he's offering you one heck of a deal. Re: cheapo blanks

Mark , if all you want to do is practice , a wooden dowell will work . If you realy want blanks , call , or e-mail Neal at Neals fishing on the left . You can get blanks from him as cheap as a few bucks. Tell him what you are going to do , and I'm sure he can help John Got Fish ? Re: cheapo blanks

Mark, I would advise you to build your first rod on a blank you would be proud to fish, sell or give to someone. Just like so many neat events in your life, you only make your first rod once. I lost mine when I sank my boat a few years back. I miss fishing that rod. I built an "exact replacement", but, it isn't the same.

Rodblanks.com sells blanks for $10 each and they are surprisingly nice.I picked up 1/2 a dozen a few months back and all were very straight with good ferrule fit and nice dark teal/dark blue gloss finish(just like the older Forecast models I have).
If you are looking for a low cost, but decent blank to start on I doubt you would be dissappointed with these. They are not only fishable but a few of them(especially the shorter 3 and 4wts) are quite nice. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
