Hi,

This is Daniel from Spain. I own an on-line store and we would like to begin selling our own rods, with our own brand.

We would like to offer to our customers customized rods (basically spinning and casting rods). For this reason, we would like to build them by ourselves.

There are just a couple of rod builders in Spain, so it's very difficult to find rod components and, of course, it's imposible to learn with somebody.

I've being reading some information in the web but could somebody give me some link in which finding complete and reliable information?

We would like also to have a good book about this. Any suggestion?. It has to be found in Amazon.com or something like this.

I'm registering to have Rodmaker magazine, but we're not receiving it yet.

Waiting for your suggestions,

Daniel

PS: this is second or third time I publish this topic, because I didn't realize whre to include ny real name. I finally could.

In the meantime, I bought the book "Rod Building Guide: Fly, Spinning, Casting, Trolling", by Tom kirkman. I've not still received it.

Thank you to Myles, from Australia for his reply, the only one I could read before the topic was deleted.

Daniel, using this site is one of the biggest assets to the beginer/seasoned rodbuilder I posted a question about 8 posts below and the responses are so helpful and informative. Tom's book, magazine and this website will get you up and running, also go upto the libary section great articles to get you on the way, also the photo page will give you some ideas to get going.

Daniel -
Tom Kirkman's book at around $15.00 is the "Buy of the Century" for anyone beginner through advanced builder. It is written very clearly with lots of excellent quality photographs. I see you have ordered it - you will be overjoyed. I would also recommend that you purchase the Clemens book "Custom Rod Thread Art" - it is the single best source for hard copy instructions on how to create intricate decorative wraps and provides all the definitions that people use to describe "how to make a wrap" - and is the genesis for Visual Wrap software. For other sources "on line" you can look at the

[www.mudhole.com] and look at the RODBUILDING 101 section as well
as their on-line forum.

------ and -------
[www.rodcrafting.com] for another forum on rod building.

(although I think you've found the "most widely populated" right here.

As for parts I know that several of the sponsors of this board deal with international customers at the retail and wholesale level and are accustomed with international internet money transfers. In fact you can speak with someone in Spanish at MudHole. Hopefully some of them will reply to you directly - either on or off board.

I've seen a used unit of "Custom Rod Thread Art" at around 190 USD. In the same place, new one at 29 USD.

But Myles told me that this kind of books can be bought to the sponsors. You have my full e-mail address clicking into my name.

Best regards,

Daniel
