Christmas! Holy mackerel I thought I had a couple more shopping days left still...
How do you like working with balsa? Have you fished with a balsa handle? Isn't that a little soft / not dense enough for a handle?

well so far so good it turned better than anything ive messed up before and is more firm than cork. I will be coating it with super glue like Les recommends. The other rods have urethane finnish which I'm not too crazy about. The balsa after finnished with super glue will be as hard as a rock and light as well Balsa. The lace wood is also very light.

Nice work. I like the 6' spin rod. The seat insert is exactly the same shape as the "ergo" seat i've just turned. Makes a size 16 skeleton fill the hand just a bit better.

How did you get the dimensions right for the insert? Mine took a lot of filing after measuring, and hand sanding.

Thanks Mine also took alot of hand work after the lathe. Mostly a very sharp carving knife and a dremel tool.

Hey Travis, very nice. Are you going to demo this at the Rod Builders Day in Madison this year?
