Broken rod handles?

I purchased some new broken rods at a sale that have some real nice handles and reel seats on them. Has anybody had any luck with removing the blanks with out destroyng the handles? Any ideas? I have thought of cutting the blanks off at the foregrip and sliding in a new blank but that will leave me with too small of a I.D. for the new blank. Any suggestions welcome!

It is a pain but you can drill them slowly

Have done this many times, cut handle blank in front of fore grip, remove foregrip and clean blank, fit new blank over handle stub, glue, install new foregrip, wrap and finish rod. Another way, cut handle blank even with front of seat, make a plug that will fit about 3" under seat and 4" into new blank, install foregrip, wrap and finish rod. When glueing new blank in either case make sure to line up the spine with the seat. Jesse
