I've wrapped hundreds of them. The key is to do a great job on the prep work, and I do mean a great job.

Grind or sand the feet ends to very shallow tapers and then start bending and flexing the guides to get them to conform to the blank diameter where they will sit. These are thick, heavy, overbuilt guides and don't want to bend much, but they will.

I also would work the inside of the feet with a round file to remove the slightly high area where the foot meets the leg - this is hard edge to just put up against the blank, although the blanks they're intended for are usually very thick walled.

Wrap the single foot first, then the double end.

You've got a real job ahead of you. If you grind these, keep some water handy to quench them. You'll need it.

Remember to point the single foot toward the tip. John Butterfield
