Can any one share what they used to set up there 9'-0" 7 wt
I'll be using the Pac Bay Tradition blank

My 9' #7 has a set of Fuji Titanium/SICs on it. The titanium frames aren't a necessity, but I knew I would use it in salt. My running guides are all 6s, then I go from that to one 7, one 8, two 10s (4" apart) and one 12 as a stripper (again, 4" from the 10s). My collection strippers (12, 10, 10) are all high frame single foot spinning guides. Then, I go to single foot fly guides, starting with the 8.

The Tit/SICs are phenomenal, and I always suggest them for every fly rod. However, if you can't justify the cost, Gunsmoke SICs are great too. I love the SIC ring for fly rods. A good fly line will just fly through them.

I use a #16/12/10 stripper set with the #12 as a line tamer. I'll use either V-frame or standard spinning guides depending on the mood I'm in (same ring height). Then I'll drop to a #8 running guide and then #7's the rest of the way out. I use mine in cold weather and I tie big knots so I go with the #7 guides. If I was using it with standard lines (no shooting heads or big connections) in no freezing conditions then I'd use #6 ceramics.

For my personal rods I have used alconites, Hardloys, Ti SiC, and Amtak guides and haven't had a problem with any of them.

about the same for me. I used #7 alconites, a SIC top, a SIC 1st stripper, and the choke guide setup. Works fine. I also have a 6 wt with all titanium frame SIC's. I don't see a great deal of difference in the casting.

I think the Alconites are the best for the $ . If you have the $ get the SICs, they are a little nicer looking , though I realy cant tell the difference once the line is on the rod. Fuji ,TSG for the runners ,TNSG for the strippers if you want Titanium frames , and a standard stripper . I haven't played around with the spinning guides for strippers , but the next couple of flyrods I build for myself , I'm going to . Have fun . JD
