Do a search for allelectronic , they have both AC , and DC motors cheap , though they are higher RPM . I use the 30 RPM AC gear reduction ones they sell , and slow it via pulleys . I also made a couple of portable drying units using the small AC 30 RPM strait motors . I just glued on a PVC cap and used plastic (4) wing nuts to center/hold the rod , simple stand out of cardboard and I can dry a rod section anywhere I can find an outlet . Have fun . Shawn Some dealers on the left have the motors that you need. They are cheap and last just as long. BQ is too cumersome to use. If you want, look at @#$%& you can find motors with the shafts already in place. Buy two, just in case one start making more than one rod at a time. Randy Re: rod drying set up

Shawn I just bought some motors from a company and they work great. They have about any speed you want. Cost about $5.00 each. Here's their web page. www.herbach.com hope this helps. Terry Re: rod drying set up

I bought a couple of 40 rpm motors and then used items laying about to gear it down. I mounted a fly line spool on a 1/4" rod and some inexpensive skate bearings and on the motor end I simply used a wooden thread spool that I got from my wifes sewing machine that I made a masking tape bushing and slip it on the motor shaft. A rubber band conects the two. If I need slower simply remove the thread spool and run the rubber band on the taped motor shaft. Sounds weird but actually works very nice Re: rod drying set up

I use a BBQ motor from Lowes - leave the forks on and wrap a rubber band in a criss-cross and it is a self-adjusting rod holder. Works perfect. Re: rod drying set up

Custom Tackle Supply and FishSticks4U both carry small, durable, reliable gear motors for rod dryers. And they're both sponsors of this site. ............... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
