i have built two of these blanks. the 6'6" 3pc 3wt and the 7'6" 2 pc 4 wt. i am now considering the 7' 3wt version. the question i have is this. does anyone here have experience with the 7' 3wt? they have a 2 pc and a 3pc. is there a performance difference between the 2 pc and three 3 pc in the 7' version. i have heard that the 2pc version of the 6'6" tends to be too soft for some tastes. opinions and experiences would be appreciated specific to the 7' er. thanks, larry Re: LAMIGLAS FL 843 E GLASS FLY

I have a 7', 3 wt. Problem is I have not built it yet, so I don't know for sure how it will be. I can say that in just looking at it and flexing it it seems to be almost perfect. I built one of the 8.5', 5 wts and I just don't like it a whole lot. I think littler rods do better in fiberglas. One reason I have not built the little lamiglas is that I built a 7', 3 wt diamondback classic trout graphite first. I just don't need another small rod after that one. It works well up close and can push out a lot of line and has a little backbone for bigger fish too. Then I bought a bamboo 7.5' 4 wt. It is a very versitle rod too. I think both are better than the glass for my use. Re: LAMIGLAS FL 843 E GLASS FLY

bill, we all suffer from the problem you are describing. too many rods. i am always looking for "nurvana". i have built the 6'6" three wt and it is very nice, but it is a TWO wt rod for sure. very nice dry fly presentation out to about 35 feet and also up close. i do have a 7'9" st croix legend ultra in three wt. it is a little long for some of the streams i fish so i was thinking that the lami would fullfill that role nicely. is your lami blank a 2pc or a three pc? It was a $35 close out from Clemmens. I think it is a 4 piece, but right now I am not sure. I will build it at some time, but not right now. Re: LAMIGLAS FL 843 E GLASS FLY

Larry, I have built the 7' 3wt. on this blank. I don't have any of the others for comparison but I can say that this is my favorite rod to fish with. It doesn't cast thebest, doesn't feel the best, isn't the most sensitive rod I own etc.... but it fishes the best. In small stream settings you'll be able to make all the goofy little casts that are needed to catch fish. I used REC's Recoil snakes and stripper on this rod. I love it !
