Two-piece rods mix up

I bought 3 of the same 2-piece rods and during the building process the tip sections became scattered and I don't have an idea which tip fits which butt sections. The ferrules seem to fit just fine-does anyone see a major problem if a tip section from one from one rod is fitted to a butt seciton from a different rod. These are for customers and I don't want to generate a bunch of warranty work if breakage is more likely. Thanks for all comments. Needless to say, I will mark all two-piece blanks in the future so they pieces are easily identified and matched. Re: Two-piece rods mix up

The same blank times three? Fitting approximately the same distance into each? Should work well ehough. Otherwise you should play musical tip sections until you get this approximate result. I did this a couple of years ago, three identical Allstar Bass rods, and I've had no comeback from the customer. Ralph Re: Two-piece rods mix up

I also mixed up tip sections on some blanks. They were all the same model, and the tips seem to fit any butt, so I used my best guess and matched them up. No problems. Lou Re: Two-piece rods mix up

Assemble them so that you have approximately the same tip over butt overlap on each one. Then flex and shake each one and make sure the ferrules fit well and you don't feel any "click" or movement between the pieces. Once you get them so that each one has the same amount of overlap and they appear to fit perfectly, you've probably got the right tips on the right butts. Whenever I get new multi-piece blanks in, I write a code number on the butt and the female ferrule portion of the tip section with a sharpie marker. Just to prevent any mix ups until they're built. ................... Re: Two-piece rods mix up

To avoid the mix-ups, I leave them in plastic rod bags until I begin to build on each. I've checked same-type blanks and found some of the tip sections fit far too deep onto the butt sections of the different blanks. I was just curious and tried it. Could be manufacturer's tolerances in quality control?? Putter Re: Two-piece rods mix up

Yes, it could. And a bad fitting ferrule is not entirely rare. .......... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
