I would use the Fuji hardloy guides, Fuji reel seat and cork tape grip. Unless you are going to wrap it for spinning reels, then I would look at the new concept guides. You should be able to get approximate guide spacing from Artie Herbert or from the Fuji site. Re: Another surf rod question for all of you

Don, I have used the Amtak tit. nit. guides on that rod. The rings are harder than hardloy rings. Guides are not really heavy either. Cork tape & Fuji seat. Makes a nice set up. I end up with at least 10 guides on it also. Going with the manufactured spacing I found the line will hit the blank when put under extreme flex. Good Luck! One for me and 2 for clients. The rod I've been using has BNLGs with an SIC tip(a must),and Fuji deluxe graphite seat, which is what the two client's rods will be.My rod will have Alconite Concept guides,no seat, and 3M tape grip.I do light competition casting and am looking for something different, but still fishable.Artie and I agree to disagree on that one.Good luck..............Kyle Ps,Here is Artie's spacing starting from the tip 16,19,22,27,34,42.5,46 12,12,12,16,16,20 ,25 He recomends PST16-10 for the tip Like the guy above,I don't think there are enough guides, that's the reason for the concept Re: I'm building 3 right now

If you are building for casting with guides-on-top, then the old standby NSG are worth considering. On a rod of that length, You'd be hard pressed to get by with less than 8 guides and it is more likely you'll need 9 or 10. Pay attention to your shock leader knot. In some instances I have found that I cannot get a smooth cast if I go under a size 16 ring on any of the guides. Obviously, I'd go as small as I can, but if the leader knot hangs on the way out you may have to upsize the rings to larger than what you'd normally use. ................ Re: I'm building 3 right now

On a spinning rod you don't worry about the line touching the blank under load so you may not have to use quite as many guides. ......................... Re: I'm building 3 right now

You should look into the new Fuji Low Rider LC guides for max distance. Mudhole and Merick sell them now. Get spacing from Fuji site. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
