Does anyone have any experience or have any comments pertaining to the use of single foot fly rod guides on spinning rods. My idea is an ultralight rod starting with a few standard guides, then SF fly rod guides to the tip + a fly top. An advatantage would be less weight. Any disadvantages ? Line wear, etc. I believe I've seen some factory rods with this setup, but I can't remember where or what kind. Thanks, Andrew Eaton Re: Fly guides on Spinning Rod

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using SF fly guides on spinning rods. I start with the choke guide and continue on out to the tip. Re: Fly guides on Spinning Rod

This is exactly what the New Guide Concept System requires from the intersect guide on out to the top, in most instances. ........... Re: Fly guides on Spinning Rod

Do it Andrew. I've been using them little boogers ever since I could get my hands on 'em. Not just for ultra-lights either, they work just fine on heavy action, heavy line spin rods. Re: Fly guides on Spinning Rod

This is another one of the 'well kept' secrets in rod building. Guides are meant to be used for crossover purpose to which they are often named? Thus 'fly' guide for a spinning rod?? not ridiculous. It's proven to be one of the best applications and techniques to increase rod performance and line handling. Actually, these guides could be better with the nomenclature of something like low, or flat profile single foot guides and have multiple uses. I guess it's easier to simply call them s.f. 'fly' guides. Rich Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
