Pac Bay's New Powerhead & Chuck

Just finished installing the new Pac Bay powerhead on a home-built 9' aluminum bed (built in sections) and it works great - far superior to their previous powerhead & chuck.

It's very sturdy, appears to have two bearings in the powerhead and the chuck seems to work very well.

The durned thing turns true!

Thanks Stan for the review. I was waiting for someone to pass on information... I guess I'll be sending an order to MudHole later on .... Oh, what the heck "the internet never sleeps" .

Yes, I too have been waiting for a report on the new pacbay powerhead. Was just wondering if the flywheel is aluminum which it appears to be hard plastic and can the drive belt be changed to the drying motor ? I don,t do anying turning with mine , that I do on my Grizzle hobbie lathe ,so I don,t have any of the wobbleing and rods jumping out. So I guess my main intrest was the flywheel .
thanks Don

Donald,

The flywheel (large pulley) appears to be constructed of a sturdy plastic material (not aluminum). It appears to work very well and rotates true on the shaft, which is supported by two bearings.

I put a 30 RPM drying motor on the homemade setup, and changing the drive belt from one motor to the other is easy.

Chuck RPM with the drying motor measures 11 RPM.
