I asked some advice on a light spinning rod blank for walleye with the following specs: 1/16 - 1/8 ounce jigs and 8lb line. I got some great responses. However, moneys a bit tight at the moment and this is a present. I was looking through some of the blanks I have and found two blanks, beleive either Loomis or Lamiglas, with the designation: GFW781L. They were ones I got on sale off the internet a few years ago. I can't find anything on the net about the blank, does anyone know anything about them, and would be make a decent walleye rod? Phil Re: Light spinning rod question 2

I think for that jig weight that the light power rod blank ( the "L" designation) you have is going to be just fine, Phil. I can't find the action listed, but I think you'll be able to tell by puttin' her in a bind whether it's fast or whatever. Putter Re: Light spinning rod question 2

Sounds like a Lamiglas blank that was discontinued either in 1998 or 1999 if I remember right, I believe they were rated for 2 to 6 lb line 1/16 to 1/4 oz. All Lamiglas blanks or rods starting with "G" that I'm aware of are first generation graphite. A tough, durable blank line. 6 lb line and an extra fast tipped ML St Croix 6 ft rod was pretty much considered the ultimate setup in the Midwest. Have seen people bring in lots walleye on 4 lb test and light jigs on shallow flat weededges when I lived in Michigan and the bite was tough. Re: Light spinning rod question 2

Phil, I found a GFW781M in an old catalog rated for 6-12 lb. line and 1/4 to 3/4 oz. lures. So Spencer's numbers must be right. The GFW721 is rated as he states, it just happens to be a six footer instead of the 6'6". Cheers, Ellis Re: Light spinning rod question 2

As always, thanks for the info. Think I'll go ahead and wrap this one for him for X-mas and won't cost me any more than parts I already have. Phil Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
