I've got a question. I just saw some nice fighting butts on the photo page that were made of cork gasket material. I have tons of this stuff from doing inlays and such!! I'm wondering if the normal sheet material sold in automotive stores will be durable enough to use for the end of the butt. I know burl cork can have chipping problems, but what is the story on gasket? Thanks, Kevin Re: Gasket for butt on fly rod?

Burl cork does not have chipping problems. It's tougher than regular cork. Sheet gasket is more like rubberized cork which is pretty good, but gasket material is very thin. I don't know how it would actually work on for a butt end piece. Re: Gasket for butt on fly rod?

We sell Forecast end caps that have that same look. They are nicer than black rubber (IMO) and are about the same price. Dan Craft Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
