For 99% of the people who use color preserver, it's not a gamble. Remember, this is a forum where people come very often to discuss problems, not so often to report successes. It's only natural that you hear of CP problems here rather than successes - those who have success with it don't really have anything to report. Most of the time, blotches are areas where the blank is showing through from underneath. Take a good look at those "blotches" and see which direction they run - with the direction of the wrapping thread, or against it (along the blank)? Most of the time they run with the direction of the wrapping thread which is a tip off that your wraps are not well packed. ....... Re: Post Removed

I use Flex Coat CP on every rod I build and I have no qualms using it. After reading and viewing the results posted in a fly rod book (Forget the name), I ran myown tests about 3 years ago and was solidly convinced to use it. I haven't had a single wrap fail on me yet. I feel better when my wraps are covered by it because I can come back to a partially finished rod months later and the wraps are still unblemished, and the color comes out much closer to my expectations than without. Sure my other friends and I argue of it's merits, but it does more good than bad (IMHO). They use the argument that it prevents the finish from getting inbetween the wraps to asecure the wrap and guide to the blank. But if anyone has tried to adjust guides after wrapping, they know the guides are really difficult to move. I rely on my wraps to hold the guide in place. Then I rely on the finish to protect my wraps. Patrick Vernacchio Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
