I'm retired and have been building rods for about 2 years. I'm a long way from being as good as I would like, but I live in a small town in Fl. that has a lot of retired people and there are times when they can't get out on the water,in the winter to fish, because of wind and or bad weather. I have been thinking about starting a rod building class for these people, but have no idea on how to start. I have the abilily to teach them the basic rod building technices, I have the time, and can fine a location but I need help with some guidelines on how to go about this and what to cover and what not to cover. I would also like some sponsers and any one else to help me out with supplies. I think that this would be a great opportunity to get some good people involed with this craft. please feel free to e-mail me and give me your number and I will be glad to call you back, or you can call me at 352-564-8941 Re: Starting a rod building class

You have to come at this from the standpoint of someone who has never built a rod and has absolutely no idea what's involved. I would recommend getting one of the simple yet very good Flex Coat books or their new video and planning a course around the steps and information they present there. Either should give you a good outline of the steps you need to explain and present. ........... Re: Starting a rod building class

Larry sounds like you have a good idea. I have a lot of flex coat intructional material , Pamphlets, vidio and hand outs which i think will help you. Have these left over from a rod building class i conducted at a local college. If you are interested will send them to you. E-mail me andlet me know.
