where to buy mandrels

I'm thinking of trying my hand at making my own grips and seats. I have read post where people talk about the use of mandrels. I think I know what they are and what they do, but a little more info would be great. Also, where can you buy them.

Thanks in advance,

Klinkerone

Check Lamar Reel Seats on the sponsor list on the left.
He was having computer problems a couple of days ago but should be up and running soon.
He can answer any questions an he does sell some very fine mandrels.

If you don't have a lathe, consider buying the Grizzly Hobby Lathe to use with the mandrels. Perfect and inexpensive set-up for turning cork. I had never done it before and learned fast. I also use the mandrels from Andy at Lamar Reel Seat, usually the 1/4" size.

Will,
I'll be happy to supply with whatever mandrels you may need. My company also supplies free unlimited technical support for all aspects of Lathe useage (as it applies to Rodbuilding). I also have a new instructional DVD available that details all the steps involved in making and turning cork grips, reelseats and decorative accents on a lathe.

Feel free to give me a call at 210-865-3256 or 210-696-6852. Or email me at aldear@lamarreelseats.com

Hi Will,
I am still learning to walk upright (missing link here) but I have learned to turn my grips using Andy's mandrels. I have the full set which I use on the Grizzley hobby lathe.

Cheers, Ellis
