Has anyone ever made one of these layout jigs?I have seen them and it doesn't look like they would be too hard to make. I was at a website that explained how to use one of these, but I found it a bit confusing. Thanks Joel Re: Butt wrap Layout Jig

A friend of mine made one for me using a table saw then at a plastic store I had a piece cut to size. The cost was around $1.50 for the whole jig. Re: Butt wrap Layout Jig

Yes, made one at home using a router. Cost was a piece of 30" piece of 1 x 4" scrap lumber, and a rectangular piece of aluminum sheet metal. Cut the lumber into two equal lengthe pieces. Scribed one down the middle lengthwise with a pencil. Ran the marked board through the router using a V-grooving bit. Using glue and some finishing nails nailed the other piece to form the backside fence. Stopped by a home HVAC dealer and they cut a piece of sheet metal to fit - free. I guess plexiglas would work too, but I wanted thinner material. The lathe I use has locking indexing marks, so anymore I use the metal straight edge only. I still have the rest of the jig though. I used a piece of clear plastic and found a clear stick on ruler that I added so I could index it . Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
