I have been a Permagloss user for a long time. I now need to change my ways due to space constratints and complaits regarding the lingering smell.

What epoxy will give me the clarity, non-yellowing and toughness of Permagloss or is there such an animal.

Since I am used to PermaGloss thickness buildup is not really important to me.

Klass Kote is an epoxy paint that would at least be similar in working properties to PermaGloss. However, it will have a bit of an odor in the way of solvent fumes just like PermaGloss, so it may not be what you're looking for.

I suspect you would want a 100% solids epoxy in one of the low viscosity forms such as Flex Coat Lite, LS Supreme regular build, AMTAK's lite formula, etc.

The only one that will give you the clarity of Permagloss, though, is going to be the LS Supreme. Although clarity isn't really a factor on anything but the very lightest colored threads.

IF a higher viscosity thread finish is an option, then GLASS COAT is a 2-part epoxy thread finish ("100% solids") that is comparatively odor-free, and stays clear and has a hard finish. Lately I have been using 2 coats of varnish and 1 of Klass Kote epoxy paint. I build rods when traveling, and the odor of K-K is not too strong, although I take the unused portion and throw it away outside the room. Permagloss was way too strong for hotel rooms.
