optivisor lens

Jim I have used a #4 lens for years to tie flys and do other fine work as well as rod building. The # 4 works good at about 8 inches for me. Stan Grace Re: optivisor lens

The higher the magnification the shorter the focal length 1-1/2 X Mag 20 inch focal length, 1-3/4 X 14 inch, 2X 10 inch, 2-1/2 X 8 inch, 2-3/4 X 6 inch, 3-1/2 X 4 inch. Re: optivisor lens

I originally had a #5, much too close for me. Now use a #3, effective at about 9"; I use it without my glasses, you can try it both ways. I guess it will be different for each person. Re: optivisor lens

When teaching rod building classes I have always had three or four pairs of Optivisors on hand with #3 lens. The #3 lens is the most multi-purpose. John Anderson Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
