Has anyone seen or used the new American Tackle twill graphite blanks yet? I know they're out and wondered what you thought of them both looks and performance wise. Thanks. If you'd rather e-mail me feel free to do so.

Hi Guys,

These blanks haven't been out very long so there may not be a ton of feedback. I can tell you the response has been nothing short of awesome however. They're going to be a huge hit.

The butt sections are very strong. The woven twill increases hoop strength thus increasing power. The unidirectional fibers allow us to really dial in the actions. It gives you the best of both worlds.

Here is some info we wrote up for catalog descriptions.

American Matrix Series – Fuses the beauty of a woven twill graphite material with the traditional intermediate modulus blank design. The result is a cutting edge blank and the first of its kind to be offered to rod builders. The “Matrix” material adds power and sensitivity to the butt section without inhibiting the performance of the unidirectional tip section. Presented in an emerald green gloss with matching graphite twill matrix handles and reel seat inserts this series brings trend setting to a whole new level.

ATC's patented Vetre Handle System (shipping Jan 15th) transforms the beauty of their emerald green woven Matrix twill into a durable, ultra light and sensitive carbon rod handle that will match any American Matrix rod blank. An up-locking woven graphite grip assembly (mounted the same as any reel seat), secures your reel into the molded graphite seat for both spinning and casting models. Use without a foregrip allows direct hand contact with the blank adding additional sensitivity to this already sensitive and durable woven tube material. This handle provides optimum performance and a beautiful monochromatic look.

The matching American Matrix fly and spinning reel seats (shipping Dec 15th) are the perfect compliment to their high performance blanks. These seats match up the beauty of ATC's exclusive emerald green woven twill with an insert that is not only beautiful but light weight and durable. They are a great way to finish off the most unique rod blank ever offered.

I hope that helps.

Warmest regards, Joe Meehan

We are looking forward to supplying our customers with the Matrix Series blanks. As a distributor with American Tackle products, this will be a nice category addition to offer for a moderate price range and high quality blank for the custom rod builder.

Until the green twill spin or fly reel seats are available from American Tackle, we carry currently woven green graphite reel seat inserts to complement these, or any green blank. The spin hood sizes in 16 and 17 can have black, s/s, gold or TiCH hoods to match your guide sets. For any further informaion on ordering these, please email or contact Richard here at Richard's Rod & Reel.

Also, welcome to all Canadian custom rod builders!
