After using 2- ton epoxy for years I decided to try Gold Bond to get away from the running. I like the idea of Gold Bond for its more solid mixture. My question is, when the cork rings are glued up, How long do I have to wait before I start to shape the grip on the lathe? Thanks in advance for any help Stan Re: U-40 gold bond?

I use Rod Bond for all of the handles and cork I do . I wait a day before shapeing grips. One tip when glueing the rings , if you don't want any glue lines , after mixing the glue wipe it on each ring surface , then wipe it off so only a very thin film is left . You don't need a lot between the rings , and the adheason to the blank will more than keep them in their final place. I use more than nessary when assembling the handle . Good luck , John Re: U-40 gold bond?

Gold Bond does come in handy after long hours in the shop during those hot summer days....but Rod Bond works better on grips. I've turned grips after 12 hours but typically wait 24. Disclaimer: Although you can apply as much Gold Bond to a rod as you'd like, under no circumstances should Rod Bond be applied to areas where Gold Bond is normally used! Re: U-40 gold bond?
