E. L. Baker ??

Is there anybody out there that knows or has heard of a builder by the name of E.L. Baker?

I have a rod for repair that has a decal/sticker on it that says. "Custom Built by E.L. Baker Boynton Beach, FL"

I've been told the rod is from the 40's or 50's. I live in Boynton Beach but have not uncovered any additional information on the builder.

The owner of the rod gave it to a local bait shop for 2 guide rewraps. Ouch! The shop had no respect for this piece of local fishing history. They wrapped one of the ugliest wraps I've seen on this old timer rod. What a shame. I am hoping the owner is happy with my qoute, I would really like to give the rod some TLC.

Just interested if anyone has any knwledge of the builder, for curiousity sake.

You might talk to some people in the older tackle shops in the area or just quiz some fishermen on the local pier. After that many years you'll have to run into an old timer who might remember the guy. Or you can visit the local library and see if they have any old phone books or records you can look through and see if you can come up with an old address for the guy. Then start searching from there.
