I am looking for the maker of the reel seat used on the G. Loomis Streamdance fly rods. I 've seen some on @#$%&. I would like to buy them.

Hi Mike,
are these the ones you are refering to

[]

I would ask for a clearer picture - they dont look 100 % similar to the Streamdance seats - the color is wrong and you cant see the locknuts and front retainer etc.

Would be interesting to see a good close up shot of it - I've been looking for the Streamdance reelseats myself.

I asked REC because it looked like something the would do - but they didnt want to answer - which is ok I guess :-)

These seats are proprietary for G.Loomis at the present time. You aren't likely to find those exact seats being offered to rod builders. Not just yet anyway.

...duuhhh.... mistake - I just found the Loomis catalog - the GLX Streamdance reel seats are black - this could be interesting - I'll shoot the seller an email and ask for a better picture.

Sorry about the mistake.

In all likelyhood, GLoomis has an exclusive contract with the manufacturer of the Streamdance cover. I would be totally surprised if anyone truly makes and sells the authentic reel seat cover to the general public. I say cover because they look like they overlay a graphite reel seat. But I do agree that it would be a sharp enhancement to a GLoomis rod.

In my opinion it's more than likely that the Streamdance reelseats are made by REC seeing that they at just about the same time introduced a similar series of spinning rod reel seats.

I bought one of the reel seats offered on @#$%&. I also have one of the G. Loomis Streamdance rods. The one from @#$%& is an exact copy , just a different color, and different wood insert. You might be right about REC. I haven't checked them out yet.

Heck guys. All you need is the factory solid seat, drill file the thing and make your own

Well I got a new picture from the seller - not much better than the others - still cant see any details.

Mike - the ones on @#$%& appear to have a clear black finish - is that right ?

Bill - you are right - how do you go about anodizing the thing after drilling/filing it ?
I've asked around - its very expensive to have it done by a professional.

Thanks
Peter

The ones on @#$%& are a clear black finish, and have a plain maple insert.
