Attention Chris Newberg and fellow rod builders, I highly recommend that you resist the temptation to access the website quicksilvercustomtackle.us. I spent the better part of last night cleaning up my system after my web browser was hijacked by Gator.com via accessing the site. Those that have, I would highly recommend running an anti-spyware program such as spybot to clean up your system. I'm not blaming Chris. I understand the risks venturing out into the internet, but I felt that as an ISP, I owed a warning to those that may not have been aware. Use the Mozilla webrowser called Firefox. No mo' popups, hijacks, malicious code. 99% of the junk on the internet targets Internet Explorer, but doesn't bother Firefox. Btw, I using Firefox as we speak. Lou Re: www.quicsilvercustomtackle.us - Hijacked

Lou, Thanks for the advice. We played around with it in work. It doesn't work with some of our web-based apps, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to use it for other internet activities. I'd still be alert. Re: www.quicsilvercustomtackle.us - Hijacked

If it doesn't work with your apps, then they aren't coded to standards. Code in Mozilla, and it should work elsewhere. Unfortunately this is an ongoing problem, but when even Microsoft recommends not using IE, you have to really consider changing things. There may be a lot of people who can't get to your site. For instance once I installed spyware, I can't even get to some Microsoft sites for work, because the blocker blocks the sign-in box. Even SP2 for IE6 now has pop-up blockers which may affect your apps. I would at least test in that config. Unfortunately, if people can't get to your site, they really don't have a way of complaining or notifying you. Case in point, this thread here, if the site was integral to a public forum, how would even the site owner know? Personally, I'm using CSS with hidden layers in place of pop-ups these days. Same effect, but gets around blockers, which are only there to block things not related to the site anyway, not things from the site. Re: www.quicsilvercustomtackle.us - Hijacked

The answer is to get your site hosted by a professional website hosting service and get away from the freebee stuff. It's free for a reason and it's because they make money selling space to the spy programmers and adware people. Re: www.quicsilvercustomtackle.us - Hijacked

I'm not going to access that site, but since he has his own domain name, I bet he's paying for it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
