Okay. I got my new Dan Craft 000 weight to cast 30 feet with 30 lb. dacron backing as line (nice loop too). Now, what do I put on the line to keep it from sinking? Mucilin? Going after the monster 12" trout in 2 weeks. Re: dressing for experimental line

I have a Dan Craft 2wt and have used it with backing as the line. Treated it with Red Mucilin which came with a silk line I have and it seemed to work. I believe Golden Witch, a sponsor to the left might carry it. Bob Re: dressing for experimental line

Bob. Does it float? I use a Sage Quiet Taper 3 with my D.C. 2 weight. Re: dressing for experimental line

I would think your best bet would be to get some Sci Anglers running line and use that for a 0 weight. Or 1 weight. It's the same stuff as their regular floating line but it's level and very fine. Won't weigh much but maybe just a bit more than dacron. And it'll float right out of the box without you putting anything on it. Re: dressing for experimental line

I just wanted to try the backing and it does float. However just like silk you have to dress it every time before you go out. I have a 2wt Airflo floating line that I use all the time. Bob Re: dressing for experimental line

The super lines float naturally, but it would be some monster stuff to get you in the 30 lb dacron weight and diameter I think. Re: dressing for experimental line

I probably should have mentioned that regular running line has too great a diameter at .031 and is too stiff to get enough line onto the Forbes Micro. The backing is .015. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
