I am looking for a blank for a wreck fishing rod. It will be fished mainly in Hatteras/Cape Lookout areas, we normally use 10-16oz on a straight drop , no casting. It needs to be able to handle anything from triggerfish to amberjacks and cobia. Ideal length of 6'6-7', the reel is a tld20, would prefer graphite or composite. Thanks in advance. Ed, You might want to check out the St. Croix multi-dynamic saltwater blanks. These would be the 2SWC... series in 6', 6 1/2', or 7' Heavy boat rods 30 -50 lb. class. Could be just what you're looking for. The SCII graphite is with a woven layout resulting in a blank with superior hoop strength and high impact resistance. The Best boat rod I've seen and used so far are the Shakespear Ugly Sticks. These rods are almost undestructable. They have a heavy series with a light tip called the "Gutts-Butt" its sensative enough for just about anything, we've caught Flounder and black bass and can feel the bite. Weve also hooked up on large stripper the same day. These rods are hard to beat. I've recently picked up four at about $32.00 each. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
