weekly rod building club - central wisconsin

For the last three years we (several rod builders and myself) have been teaching rod building classes to "at risk youth" and have opened remaining spots in the class to the general public. Turn out for these classes has been great. The grant money for those classes has been spent and those classes will no longer be offered at this time.

However, there is still such an interest and demand in rod building classes that we have decided to hold a weekly, informal rod building night. This is not a structured class. There are no fees. Simply show up and work on your rod building projects. We also hope to have one demonstration per session on different aspects of rod building.

The get-together will be held at a public school technology room so there is plenty of work space, and some power tools available. There will also be some basic rod wrapping jigs, dryer motors, and a rod lathe available for use on site.

Beginer rod builders are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Experienced rod builders will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate all aspects of beginning rod building.

This is a great opportunity to share what you know with other rod builders, learn new techniques, and get some work done on your own fishing rod projects.

Work space is limited so anyone interested in attending should email me for further details. The rod building club will meet one weeknight per week in Ripon Wisconsin. We plan on starting right after the first of the year to give everyone a chance to purchase needed parts.

Any questions, comments or interest, please email me.
thanks,
Buzz Butters

Will do Scott, I hope you will be able to put on the same kind of demo that you did in Madison last year.
Very informative.

Darn right Travis. I don't remember which weekend it was but let me know the dates and I will make sure I take vacation if I am working that weekend.

I will contact you direct with some new demo ideas that were given to me as requests from other rod builders.
