Bob Meiser has built that blank and raved about its performance. Search for his post by using his name. Why don't you contact him and see what he used or contact Dan for suggested spacing. I remember that Bob reported using relatively few guides: 6 snakes and 2 strippers for a total of 8 guides plus tip top. That's less than you'll generally see in a spacing chart but Bob was very convinced it was all you need for that blank and it sounds like the performance he described bore that out. Sounds like that is a super blank! Re: guide spacing shortcut!

Guide Size: 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 3 4 12t 16t Measurement: 5 7/8, 11 3/4, 18 1/8, 24, 30 1/4, 37 13/16, 46 5/16, 55 5/8, 65 3/16, 75 1/8, and 86 1/4 I started here and then I adjusted a little to get the guides right with the rod and line under tension. It made for a good rod. This spacing comes from Sage's 10' XP 4 peice rod. It seemed comparable, so I started there. BUT, Bob Meiser had mentioned using less guides on such a fast taper, and I think you would be wise to see if Bob responds as well. Bob Maulucci Re: guide spacing shortcut!

R.B. Meiser Rods is a sponsor so I'm sure you can also contact him through the website link on the left list. Have fun with that rod. That FT series has really earned some fans since it came out this summer. Re: guide spacing shortcut!

Actually, the taper is quite moderate to slow and I think that was Bob's point. You don't need as many guides to protect the blank with that sort of curve, whereas on a fast action rod, you need a bunch in the upper third to keep the rod from taking too sharp a bend without protection of guides dispersing the load. The AA on the 10' FTs is relatively low - 60 degees. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
