Have just purchased a 2 piece Forecast fly blank. All rods I have built have been 1 piece. This will be my 1st 2 peice and i want to use ferrules. So my question is which peice do I measure to get the proper size ferrule? Butt half or tip half? Probably a stupid question but I don't know. Re: 1st Fly Rod ???

Ferrules are integral and already there as tip over butt type. You're good to go. Re: 1st Fly Rod ???

Unless I am totally missing your question, the blank is ready to go as is. The two pieces are tapered so the tip fits into the butt section. Only bamboo blanks still require ferruling. You do need to wrap the female "ferrule" to prevent splitting. Re: 1st Fly Rod ???

Randy, Another thing, you can put the blank together and wrap the ferrule (don't put it together real tight), or by it self. Put the wrap as close as you can to the end of the ferrule (to reduce fractures) and make the wrap at least 2 times the OD of the ferrule. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
