reel seats, long rods and everything else I can think of

Reel Seats:
What is this seat called? And from whom may I order one?
[classiccustomwood.com]

Long Rods:
For you guys who build crankbait rods for bass fisherman, what length rod do you use most often. I'm thinking of doing one in the 7 foot or more range. What do you think?

Decals:
Do you guys put the blank manufacturer decal on the finished rod? Why?

Sean, The main body is a Fuji IPS16B and the trigger is IPS16TR. I know that Binghams has them. (Sponsor on left) Give Karen a call and let her know what you need it for.

Some builders do put the manufacturer decal on the rod as a basis of identification. It also identifies the blank as a first quality product from the respective manufacturer, rather than a blem or 2nd, etc.

Often this is best left up to the customer who may or may not want that decal or sticker on there. Either way, keep it in a safe place. If the blank should ever require warranty service, you'll need to return it along with the blank to the manufacturer.

Ray, thanks for the custom grip you did for me. I was skeptical about solid wood instead of cork. It is amazingly light. I highly recommend it to everyone. Photos to come.

Mr. Kirkman, thanks for the advice on the sticker/decal. I did not know it would be required for warranty service. That's very helpful info.

Sean:
I don't regularly fish for bass nor have I built a bass rod, but a bass fishing friend of mine won't use anything longer than 6'. Calls my 7' rod a "harpoon".

Just something to keep in mind, but the rod locker on my bass boat will not hold anything longer than 6'6". Note to self: Build longer rods to justify buying a bigger boat.

On the other extreme of length - If you intend to use the rod in B.A.S.S. rules tournaments (as most organized tournaments are these days) there is an 8 foot max length rule......
