I have about 10 ferrules that I bought years ago in a box of rod building items from a store that was going out of business. They are the type that are on old bamboo fly rods. They are not brass inside with a plated chrome. I would like to know how to tell if they are nickel silver or not and if they are nickel silver what they might be worth. Tim; Get a bottle of Birchwood-Casey Brass Black(sold at gun shops), be sure it's Brass Black, regular gun blue won't do it. dip the end that goes on the rod in it and see if it turns black. It will blacken nickel , but not not chrome, nothing will blacken chrome. Don't worry, a little metal polish will take it right off. If they are nickel, then post some pictures to www.clarksrods.com, someone there will know the maker. john Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
