Does anybody do any consignment sales of their rods at local tackle shops? If so any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Brad Re: Consignment sales?

There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. You may try doing a search. It boils down to how good a deal you can work with the shop owner. I personally didn't like any of the deals that I was offered. Re: Consignment sales?

Thumbs down mate! What you are talking about is becoming a small time mass producer and not really a custom builder. Do you really want to go head to head with the factory boys? You can't touch them on warranty or advertising. Never talked with anyone who did fair on consignment sales. Time is better spent getting your name out to the fishermen and then dealing with them direct! Re: Consignment sales?

Consignment worked well for us for several years. It was in a popular local tackle shop and gave us some good exposure and increased custom rod business. Suggest you always make a 2 part "invoice" that they and you sign upon delivery to them. Each keep a copy. Agree on a percentage of retail price for them to keep, they collect sales tax, you report as wholesale. Agree on how often you will inventory their stock of your rods, and when you will be paid. Monthly? Consider how the warranty will work. Does customer return to you or the consignee? Terms? Remember the FET, keep everything above board. Hope this helps, Ron Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
