Good afternoon to all,

I am working on a Christmas present for my Father in law, and am second guessing my guide selection. The rod will be used for croakers and spot using a two hook and weight set up for bottom fishing with worms in the Chesapeake. Also will be used occasionally for stripers using live bait in the jettys. The heaviest tackle will be the bottom fishing rig which i'm guessing is only a couple of ounces??? It will be a spinning reel set up. I went with a Calstar gf600xl (rated for 10-25 lb line and will probably use 20# test), and the Fuji alconites model byag single foot guides. Are these guides heavy duty enough for the application? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Carrington Tate

I've used Fuji single foot BLAG and BUNAG on salmon mooching casting rods, and have caught salmon to 27 pounds with no problems. The BLAG is more susceptible to abuse, bending on the ankle between the foot and the eye, but the foot has never moved. The abuse is from stepping on the rod, etc., not from fighting the fish. I don't use the forlan wrap.

They'll work nicely.

Although if Joe reads this, I'm toast.
