I am not that familar with roller type guides. I have to redo some rods and I was asked to clean and lube the rollers. These are Aftco type. What type of lubricant is the best to put back in there? I have read Aftco literature which shows the Aftcoat coated sleeve and I would think you would only want oil on there. But then I think that grease would just have to last longer. What do you saltwater guys use that rolls easy and lasts a good while. I don't want these locking up on the man two weeks after I am done with them. Thanks. Re: Roller Guides

I've used Penn reel lube with good results, but I'm pretty anal about keeping my stuff rinsed and lubed. So I don't know how long it will last without a little maintenance. Good Luck Re: Roller Guides

I like SuperLube. Seems to hold up longer and run smoother than anything else I have found. The trouble with the Aftcoat roller sleeves is that by the time most guys take them in for service the coating has been worn off in places. If you intend to do much of this type work, but a stock of extra rollers, sleeves and screws. They're very inexpensive and often it is quicker and easier to replace any suspect pieces rather than trying to salvage any that require lots of work. ...................... Re: Roller Guides

Super Lube is good. Most any light wheel bearing grease will work. Penn lube is a little thin for me. Make sure you lube the screws also. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
