I have just finnished my first grip made up of basically all burl cork. It turned out nice except the finish looks rather dull. Will a cork sealer bring out the color of the burl or does anyone have a home brew that might be better? Thanks Bob Bogard Re: Burl cork grip

Bob I use the wife's nylon and high speed burnish the corl on the rod lathe. I also use a good floor wax while burnishing Bob Re: Burl cork grip

Bob, I use Burl cork exclusively on all my grips. I use the U-40 product Cork Seal after final sanding and this brings out the "grain" in the cork. Try the vendors at the Left and they will hook you up. Good Luck Pat Barnard Re: Burl cork grip

I put a burl handle on the first fly rod I made. Coated it with durathane. Looks great and feels OK. May ghet slippery when wet though. You might want to try U40 cork sealer. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
