In the instructions for Perma-Gloss it says "always apply over Color-Lock". I wasn't planning on using CP because I wanted the wraps to darken to blend with the color of the blank. Will Perma-Gloss work O.K. without CP ? This is my first rod project. It's looking pretty good so far, I'd hate to mess up the finish. Thanks - Steve Re: Perma-Gloss w/ no CP ?

It will work great without C.P. Perma-Gloss is all I use on light rods. Apply a flood coat and allow it to cure for 24 hours. Then apply at least two more light coats allowing at least an hour for each coat to cure. You may need to use more coats to get the look you want. Good luck Jim Re: Perma-Gloss w/ no CP ?

Thanks for the info. I applied the first coat pretty wet and the darkened color looks great. I 'll wait till tommorrow to start recoating. By the way it's a 7'-9" H&H IM6 3wt. rod, 5896 dk. green w/ single silver trim wraps, silver pac bay single foot guides, and a maple reel seat. The information on this board is great, Thanks again.
