What are the CUI casting blanks like. Lets say if compared to a GL2 or GL3.

I am hoping to get my hands on some CUI blank samples soon. I got some reel seats from them last week and was pleased to see an improved product line. What I am finding with the likes of AMTAK, Sevier and CUI is that the quality and performance of their product lines is getting better all the time. There is a niche in the market for what they offer and where you want your rod/s to fit will determine what you should buy.

I'm not aware of too many "bad" blanks anymore, at least not from anyone listed as sponsor here on this site. Some are better than others and some are better suited for particular tasks. But overall, the gap between the high-end components and blanks and what was previously considered the lesser quality stuff has narrowed considerably. You can still call it inexpensive, but I don't think you can call it "cheap" anymore. There is a difference.

very well stated tom i fully agree its unfair to compare apples to oranges and it fully depends on the end user im getting ready
to take on there full line of rods they fit well in my customer base and the quality i have seen so far suits me well but then again most of my sales dont have the need for a 450.00 blank ...
im not knocking the higher cost product but when your kid has a top shelf 400.00 and up blank yanked out of there hands ... the average working joe sometimes cringes .... just my 2 cents ....

It is hard to compare one manufactures blank rateing to another by the numbers and rateing each use. The best way is to see the the blank side by side. and handle them. As you know some fisherman well only fish with one manufacture only. Like it was already stated you can compare apples to ornges
