Color Preserver

I am relatively new to rodbuilding and can't seem to find out what color preserver does and how it is used on the wraps. My only guess to what its purpose is to keep the threads from darkening with finish. In general, does it work, how does it work, who makes the best stuff, and is it a monster that i have heard soo much about? Input is appreciated.

Brian

It is not a monster. It works well. But yes, if you don't know what you're doing or use it incorrectly you can experience troubles.

The March/April 2001 RodMaker had an in-depth article on the ins and outs of all the various color preservers.

It works "making a thin film that prevents the thread from soaking with finish". It does work. The best i tried was made by PoXipol Argentina!

I've not heard of that brand. Is it marketed specifically as a color preserver for rod wrapping threads?

It is General Purpose Preserver, I compared it against Flex-Coat &Co, and some other, and it is MUCH BETTER ! Tested against a proof including SUN, Water, and SEASON!
Hope this Helps!

I have been asked thru e-mail where to get it ? Since this is imported from Argentina there might be some Hard-Time to Get It right now.
Any comments just e-mail!
