What is it a textured tubing? I want to use it as a butt grip with two short EVA foam frips over it at each end. Do you just glue the stuff over the blank? Thanks Joe Re: G Loomis Surf Grips

No, you put your string or whatever on the blank, then place the grip material over it and heat it until it shrinks down to the blank. Whatever you have under there will protrude into a texture or shape that the material will conform to. There is more info on where to get this stuff farther down this page or just onto the next one. Mike, So do I need to put some kind of gritty substance on the blank itself to get the textured surface such as they have on G.Loomis Surf rods? Re: G Loomis Surf Grips

I think what you're referring to is a rubberized grip, something like cork tape, except with a nubby rubber texture. It comes this way, you don't have to put anything on the blank. The Loomis surf rod I have has this on it. 3M makes it. I imagine some of the guys on the left have it, but if not, Louis at Badfish.com can get it for you. Re: G Loomis Surf Grips

I have ask this question in the past look it up, there were some convincing pro and cons in using it. If you plan to cast repeatedly like tossing plugs, poppers and tins the texture of the tape can be un comfortable after 30 minutes of casting, better using the cork tape (smoother) if you plan just to do eeling and chunk bait as it sits in a sand spike it will be fine. Not much casting involved. Just gonna toss it out in the river and hope the Big Sturgean hits Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
