Do you need to fill the ends of the blank

Most factory rods have a plug in the end of the male end of the ferrule. Many blanks do not have the plug. Is it necessary or does it help to fill the end of the blank? Is it different for figerglas and graphite. I have a lamiglas 6 piece and filling all of those ends would add a ton of weight to the blank. What to fill with if it is a good idea to fill? What do the factories use? It sorta looks like a hard rubber plug to me. Re: Do you need to fill the ends of the blank

If you do a search on this topic you should uncover a thread on just this very thing within the past week. Some good ideas on what to use were listed. While many blanks get by without end plugs, it is a good idea to use them. ............... Re: Do you need to fill the ends of the blank

Use Permatex Silcone Gasket sealeant. I called Sage on this and thats what they told me to use. It shouldnt add to much weight. Thanks Dave's Rods Re: Do you need to fill the ends of the blank

We use U40 paste for the reel seats, and also for the openings in the male ferrule, and including the one at the very butt end. On heavier rods we use a "plug" back there. Best wishes, Schneider's Rod Shop Re: Do you need to fill the ends of the blank

I like plugs cut from Clemens Custom Grip. Use an electric drill and sharpened brass tubing to cut the plugs. Clyde Dent Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
